It all began with a side project

Back in the middle of the pandemic, two engineers started tinkering in a garage…

Diego, a VP of Engineering at Salesforce, and David, an AI and infrastructure expert from Google and Waymo, were growing restless.

They wanted to build something intelligent and beautiful — and they were both passionate about IoT — so they started working on a centralized home automation app.

That project never launched…

Instead, it caught the attention of Salesforce’s global head of workplace technology, who had a bigger problem.

His team was drowning in data, disconnected systems, and outdated BI tools – and he knew that teams across the industry were struggling with the same thing.

"If you could build something like this for us, it would change everything."

That conversation changed everything…

‘It’s Lunacy’ – a massively underserved market

The deeper we looked, the clearer the problem became:

  • Data that doesn't talk to itself

    Occupancy, lease, financial, and utilization data live in separate systems – inconsistent, incomplete, and rarely in sync.

  • Teams stuck in gather mode

    Most real estate teams spend the majority of their time hunting, cleaning, and reconciling data rather than acting on it. The insight arrives too late, or not at all.

  • Every decision built from scratch

    Without a shared data foundation, there's no institutional memory, no trend analysis, no AI. Every decision is bespoke. Every report is one-off. The work never compounds.

Why We Built Trebellar

We saw a massive, underserved market – and a rare chance to apply world-class engineering talent to a problem that actually mattered.

Corporate real estate is one of the largest cost centers in any enterprise, yet the teams managing it were operating without purpose-built tools. No real-time visibility. No AI layer. No way to make the data work for them.

As founders, we had spent our careers building intelligent systems at Salesforce, Google, and Waymo. We knew what was possible. And we knew this industry was years behind where it should be.

Trebellar exists because the problem was too big, and too solvable, to ignore.

What’s “Trebellar?”

The name comes from a Galician word that Diego's grandmother used fondly to describe his boyhood verve.

Trebellar means “to play with something with the intent of mastery.” It’s a reflection of how we approach our work – we apply our deep technical curiosity and push boundaries to build transformative software that helps teams master their craft.
